Parenting Struggle:
Raising Healthy Eaters

By building on the 3 Keys to Parenting Success, we become better equipped to survive the short term while building for the long term. For many parents, getting our children to eat nutritious foods is one of those areas where there is a large gulf between what we want for our children and what's really happening at the table.

But with a few key insights and strategies, it is really possible to get our children to eat a greater variety of foods - without rewards or ultimatums, and with cooperation & collaboration.

Parenting Struggle:
Emotion Regulation

How many colleagues can you count that are brilliant communicators, set expectations far in advance, rarely get frustrated, never have knee jerk reactions... and are able to quickly articulate their needs, while understanding & meeting the needs of everyone around them?  When I ask this question, it is often met with a little bit of laughter - yet we hold our own kids, whose brains are still developing, to a standard we often can’t live up to ourselves!

Understanding what level of emotion regulation children are capable of will help us to really understand, listen and empathize with our child so we can help guide them through their own feelings and needs - while meet our own needs as well.

Parenting Struggle:
Raising Siblings Who Love Each Other

Did you know that the biggest sources between siblings fighting stem from how parents treat their children and not the issues themselves?  This is a critical insight and important first step towards moving away from siblings competing for your attention to that of siblings working collaboratively, while looking out for each other. And if your littles are already looking out for each other, you can build on that foundation to carry them into the future.
Based on my experience reading thousands of peer-reviewed papers for the podcast, along with work I've done with countless families around the world, I have found 9 specific areas where parents really struggle. While your parenting journey is your own, you are not alone.

Need help implementing these research-based strategies into your own home?

I started the Parenting Membership after I realized that parents were still struggling with many of the topics on which I had already produced podcast episodes: it turns out there's a big difference between hearing something on a podcast once and actually being able to implement it in your real life with your real family.

The Parenting Membership is open for enrollment once a year and is perfect for parents who have children aged ~1-10 who either need help right away with urgent challenges, or are simply looking to bolster their parenting toolbox with sound research-based strategies in what members call 'the least judgmental corner of the internet.'

We cover a core topic each month - including the three areas discussed above. Parents log into a custom built learning platform to review each month's new module of content, using proven exercises to create solutions that align with their own family values. Support is also provided through our private community, video Q&As, small group peer coaching and even 1:1 consults with Jen.

Your Parenting Mojo acknowledges the Lisjan Ohlone people, the rightful stewards of the land on which we live and work.  While the Lisjan Ohlone people can never be fully compensated for the harms that the legacy of colonialism has wrought, we pay the Shuumi Land Tax as recognition that more than words are needed, and we encourage others to engage meaningfully (including financially) with their local Indigenous communities.
