You already know a lot.  But knowledge hasn't helped as much as you want
Your toddler hits, bites, and kicks you or the kids at preschool
(or both)
Your six-year-old doesn’t listen, and when they do what you ask, they make sure you know they don’t like it
Your nine-year-old fights you every time you ask them to put the screen away.
Different ages. Different behaviors.
Same reason underneath: your child is trying to meet a need, and the behavior in front of you is a strategy that is working for them (but not you).

A Live Session With Me
 Wednesday, September 16, 11am Pacific
The masterclass gives you the four steps. This live session explains why those steps are hard to use in the exact moment you need them - tired, at night, with your kid already escalated - and what to do about it.

I'll tell you two stories I don't usually tell, including a parenting moment I’m really not proud of. You’ll also get to meet other parents who get what you’re going through. There’s real power in community!
Register for the masterclass before September 16 and you're in for the live session. If you can't make it live, the replay stays up until 11:59pm Pacific on Saturday September 19. If you register after the session you can still access the replay until that time - earlier registration means more replay time.
This session is only available through masterclass registration. There's no separate signup for it.

 You’ve already tried a lot...
Instagram memes that sound amazing but you always forget.
Parenting books that make sense, but then your child doesn’t respond like the script.
Therapy, which takes a lot of time and money and somehow doesn’t translate mid-meltdown, even when your kid likes their therapist.
Sticker charts, timeouts, firmer boundaries…you’ve seen it all.
 This is different.
Most parenting tools try to manage the behavior. Because they don’t ask why it’s happening, you might get a few good days.

Then you're back where you started, because the need was never met.

"My neurodivergent kiddo was six and starting to dread school drop-off. I used to just push through it, and tell him he'd be fine. After learning about Jen's work I asked him what he was feeling in his body, and what he needed. He told me, for the first time really: all the kids are looking at me, I'm scared, and I need you there because you help me feel safe.

Once I knew that, I saw why telling him he would be fine wasn't working. We got him a stuffy he could hold onto. We worked out a hand-off with his teacher, so there was always someone he trusted right there.

We moved forward faster than any strategy we'd tried the year before, because we were finally solving the right problem. Not: 'How do I get him into the classroom?' but: 'How do I help him feel safe?"

-Kerry C.

"For the first time in a year, my son let me brush his teeth."

My toddler couldn't tell me what was wrong. Every night, brushing his teeth turned into a fight. I'd end up holding him still just to get it done, because growing up I learned to do it that way - to just get it over with. He hated it, and so did I.

I started observing what made him tense up, and what made him relax.  I gave him a say in how it happened. I let him brush his own teeth first, for as long as he wanted, and I brushed mine next to him. I saw no progress and kept trying anyway.

Three days later: He opened his mouth and LET ME IN. For the first time in probably a year. I brushed about 80% of his teeth with no struggle. I'm just in awe of this.

And it’s not just about the teeth. I have the sense that in the future I will get back all of the extra time I'm investing in this process now, along with a much deeper relationship between us based on trust and not force.

Questions Before You Click:

I've tried things like this before and nothing sticks. Why would this be different?

Most approaches tell you to hold better boundaries (and mix up boundaries and limits as they're doing it!), or find a stronger consequence. Here you'll learn how to see what's really going on underneath your child's difficult behavior in ANY situation you're facing, and find strategies that meet BOTH of your needs. It's a very different approach, and is based on the idea that your needs and your child's needs are equally important.

My kid is 2 and can't really talk yet. Will this still work?

Yes. The problem solving process doesn't depend on your child being able to explain what's wrong. You can identify the feeling and the need underneath even before your child has words for either one. You'll watch a parent understand her child's needs without even talking to him!

My kid is neurodivergent. Is this going to work for us?

The problem solving process is built around understanding what's driving a behavior, not managing the behavior itself. That approach tends to work well for neurodivergent kids, since it starts from curiosity about what's going on instead of assuming the behavior is a choice. Even neurodivergent people are people with needs, a fact that's easy to lose sight of in the daily struggles. Coach Denise can help you think through how to apply this to your specific child on your call if you get stuck.

What if my situation isn't like the examples in the training?

The problem solving approach works for ANY challenge you're having with your child. After you watch me coach a parent using each of the tools I'll guide you through how to enter your information in the online form. After you submit it you'll book your call with Denise to discuss your strategies - she's a credentialed coach and one of the founding members of the Parenting Membership. She often remembers more of the resources we have than I do!

What's the call with Denise actually like? Is she going to judge my parenting?

No! Denise will help you refine your own strategies if you'd like, and identify more strategies that could work for you. We have the benefit of being able to draw on the experience of Parenting Membership members who have been using this approach for years, so we've seen which strategies are most likely to be effective.

This all sounds like it's about my kid. What about me?

It's about both of you. The process asks what need is driving your child's behavior, but it also asks what you need. Maybe it's rest. Maybe it's to not be hit in front of other parents at pickup. Your needs count as much as your child's do. A strategy that meets your kid's need and burns you out isn't a real strategy. Part of what you'll practice in this training is naming your own needs - and knowing you deserve to have them met.

My partner isn't on board with this kind of parenting. Does that matter?

You can start using the problem solving approach on your own. A lot of parents find that once their kid responds differently, their partner gets curious about what changed. The training is yours to use multiple times over if you like.

Is this a script I read to my kid?

No. You won't get a list of exact words to say - you already know those don't work, because the person who wrote the script doesn't know you or your child. Instead, you'll learn a process for figuring out what's going on and building a plan together. The recordings show you how the steps sound in real conversations, so you can hear how it works without needing a script.

Do I need to be in the Parenting Membership to do this?

No - this training stands on its own. If you want ongoing support past this one issue, the Parenting Membership picks up where this leaves off.

How long do I have access to the video and online form?

You can watch the training videos as many times as you like. You're welcome to submit one online form and have one follow-up call with Denise. You'll also get access to a downloadable version of the form you can use for future challenges.

If it doesn't work, can I get my money back?

Yes! If you've done the program (watched the videos, completed the online form, met with Denise, tried a strategy) and you aren't satisfied, we'll give you your money back. Guaranteed. Just email us at support@yourparentingmojo.com and we'll help you out.
